  • Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa)

The visitor visa, also called Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), may be a single or multiple entry visa (based on its validity time-frame).

A single entry (visitor) visa allows you to visit Canada once. But, it’s valid for up to six months from the arrival date.  In other words, your passport must remain valid till after 6 months of the date you arrived in the country.

  1. Completed Visitor Visa (IMM 5257) and Family Information (IMM 5645) forms.
  2. Your valid Nigerian passport. The passport has to be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. And should have at least two blank pages.

  4. Visa application processing fee and, if required, biometric fee.
  5. Evidence of sufficient funds for the period of the trip (at least 3 months of bank statements, payslips, proof, etc.).
  6. A letter from the person or institution sponsoring your trip and additional documents (like a copy of their passport. Also, a bank statement proving they have sufficient funds). This applies if you’re not paying for the trip.
  7. Proof of connection with Nigeria (an employment letter, proof of businesses or assets, etc.).
  8. Proof of provisional flight booking and travel itinerary (accommodation)
  9. Medical history or proof of sound health.
  10. Previous passports showing travel history.
  11. Necessary documents to support your application (i.e. marriage certificates, invitation letters, etc.).
  12. A return courier envelope addressed to you.
  13. Authorization letter signed by both parents or legal guardians. This applies to minors (under 18) traveling alone.
  14. Authorization from the non-accompanying parent or legal guardian. This applies to minors traveling with a single parent.
  15. An invitation letter that expresses the purpose you visit, length of stay, details of the host person or business, etc. This applies if you’re visiting family or traveling for business reasons.

Note that it always takes at least 30 days to complete the Canadian visa process. This depends on the application type submitted, the number of applications received, and the completeness of each application.
