As part of the Galaxy S series, Samsung Electronics has created, developed, marketed, and produced a number of Android-based smartphones with the name Samsung Galaxy S21. They act as the Samsung Galaxy S20 series’ replacement as a whole. The Fan Edition model was launched at Samsung’s CES on January 3, 2022, while the first three smartphones were introduced at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on January 14, 2021.

The “Fan Edition” follow-up was announced on January 3, 2022 during Samsung’s CES 2022 event. The S20 FE, a line of mid-range variations of the comparable Galaxy S lineup at launch, is replaced by the S21 FE. The Fan Edition largely adheres to the S21’s features and aesthetic, with a few minor modifications to accommodate its reduced cost.Due to the current global chip scarcity, which began in 2020, the phone’s release was postponed from its original October 2021 target date. The S21 FE was made available on January 11, 2022.

Samsung s21 Design & Display Review

Design:

Similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S21 series includes an Infinity-O display with a circular cutout for the front selfie camera in the top centre. While the S21 Ultra uses Gorilla Glass Victus, the S21 and S21 FE’s back panels are reinforced polycarbonate (plastic), identical to the S20 FE and Note 20.Except for the S21 FE, which is constructed of reinforced poly-carbonate incorporated instead on the back cover and has a metallic surround, the rear camera array has been integrated into the phone body. The S21 Ultra features a carbon fibre camera surround for special colours.

Display:

The “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” panels in the S21 series support HDR10+ and use “dynamic tone mapping” technology. All models use a second-generation ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, with the exception of the S21 FE, which uses an optical in-screen technology. The S21 and S21+ have internal storage options of 128 GB and 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM. The S21 Ultra comes with 12 GB of RAM and internal storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 16 GB with 512 GB. The S21 FE has internal storage options of 128 GB and 256 GB and RAM variants of 6 GB and 8 GB.

Samsung s21 Hardware And Software Review

Software:

The first three S21 phones came pre-installed with Samsung’s One UI software, Android 11 (One UI 3.1), and Google Mobile Services. Although the S21 FE was scheduled to launch with the same Android version and One UI skin, all devices have now been updated to Android 12 (One UI 4.0) as a result of the delay. For improved device factory reset protection (FRP) security, they all employ Samsung Knox, and there is a different version available for enterprise use.On November 15, 2021, Android 12 and One UI 4 were updated for the first three S21 series smartphones.

Hardware:

Four variants in the S21 range are available, each with a different hardware configuration. The Exynos 2100 SoC powers the S21 models sold internationally and in Korea, whereas the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 powers the devices sold in the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. The Snapdragon 888 is used in the S21 FE’s U.S., Canadian, Chinese, and international (European) models, while Exynos 2100 is available in the Korean, Indian, Brazilian, and Australian markets.

Connectivity:

The Galaxy S21 supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The phone is compatible with 5G SA/NSA networks. For short-range communications akin to NFC, the S21+ and S21 Ultra variants also enable Ultra Wideband (UWB), which should not be confused with Verizon’s 5G mmWave, which is also advertised as Ultra Wideband.
